Architecture    |    ‘Oasis’ A cultural retreat in an urban context

Place to escape from the noise and movement of the metropolis without the need of leaving the city behind and going to its outskirts; a cultural microcosmos formed by three elements acting as a whole: a public library, a Temple of silence and exhibition space and a building for hosts functioning as a residence. All three elements connected by the Hall, a first public space of seclusion.

Located in the very centre of Barcelona, the project starts in an urban scale by designing a park which will bring the greenness into the city, through the recuperation of an old existing passage. The building for the hosts is the one chosen to develop in further detail because of its relation with an existing building in the corner of the site, which the townhall is planning to demolish.
